Sangeet Sandhya

Among pre-wedding celebrations Sangeet is the most enjoyable one. Sangeet is popular among both Punjabis and Gujaratis, as both the cultures believe in celebrating life to its fullest. Anubha and Dipesh’s families have decided to celebrate this occasion together as they feel they already have become a complete family. Considering it would be a melodious and foot tapping amalgamation of Punjabi dhol and Gujarati garba, it would be all the more enjoyable.

Sangeet Sandhya will be consisting of 3 parts:

Dhol Punjabi dholak geet - The evening will start with female relatives and friends of the bride playing the Dholki and singing Suhaag, which are traditional Punjabi folk songs. Songs include ‘jokes’ about the in-laws, and would be husband, how to have a successful marriage and songs about the bride leaving her parents home.

Bollywood rules - The evening will proceed with relatives and friends of bride and groom performing on a well-choreographed medley of hindi movie wedding songs. The medley will move on a set storyline. Bride and Groom will also perform on songs near to there heart and express their feelings.

Raas Garba Garba Ras - Last but not the least, evening will move on and make way for Garba Ras (dandiya), Gujarati folk dance. Friends and relatives of both bride and groom will shake their legs for Garba ras followed by Dandiya (Gujarati folk dance using sticks). Fabulous dances and ethnic beats reverberate in accord as harmony and joy surround the aura. The energy and enthusiasm will soar to new heights with the garba ras.
