Barat

Barat Arrival and reception of Barat: An event, in which the groom arrives at the venue accompanied by a big procession, is known as arrival of the ‘Barat’. The procession includes Groom’s family members, relatives and friends. They arrive at the venue dancing and rejoicing. The groom, along with one of his youngest cousins, is seated on horse. A live band moves along with the procession and play recent hindi bollywood songs. All the while grooms friend and relatives have a blast, dancing and enjoying themselves. Fireworks are also lit from time to time. On arrival at the wedding venue entrance, the procession is greeted by the brides family. Brides Mother performs aarti and welcomes the groom.

Wedding

Wedding Ceremony Indian wedding rituals not only comprise exchange of vows between the bride and groom but also establish a bond between two families and their cultures. During the Wedding, puja signifies calling of hindu deities and asking them to bless the couple. Homa is done and the couple perform 4 pheras (circles) around the homa kunda (fire lit to perform homa). Each phera has a special meaning wherein both the bride and groom vow to take care of each other and live in harmony all throughout there lives. During wedding there will be food for all the guests. On completion of the wedding bride and groom take lunch together(eat it from one plate) and they are joined by their close relatives. After wedding is over, bride with tearful says good bye(bidai) to her family and moves to her new home.
